While the fans keenly anticipate the second season of the popular anime series, The Rising of the Shield Hero, it is now postponed to a later date. The series adapts its plot from AnekoYusagi’s light novels of the same name. However, in its 2019 Crunchyroll Expo, Crunchyroll announced that the series is returning for two more seasons. Production of animation studio Kinema Citrus and DR Movie, season two of The Rising of the Shield Hero, will unpack various interesting plotlines for the future of Naofumi and company.
When will the Second Season of The Rising of The Shield Hero be Release?
At “Kadokawa Light Novel Expo 2020,” the release date of the second season was announced for October 2021. However, according to the recent announcement by the official series website, Anime News Network, there is a delay in the release date. From its original airing date in October 2021, it is now set to premiere in April 2022. The website specifies no reason for the delay. However, they ascribe the delay to an amalgamation of various factors. But, they will detail the fans about the broadcast date and other insights in the nick of time.
Season one had originally premiered from January 9 to June 26, 2019, on AT-X. It has a total of 25 episodes. Season three will follow soon after and will not take too long to release, as per the core team as it is already under production. Takao Abo is not resuming his directorial position; instead, he is being succeeded by Masato Jinbo. The other team members are making a return. KeigoKoyanagi is composing the script.
Masahiro Suwa returns as the designer, Fumiyuki Gou as the sound director, and Kevin Penkin will once again compose the music for The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2. The dubbed version is likely to release on the same day as the upcoming original release date of season two. Details about the episodes number are not yet available. However, it is likely to be a two-cour season, with a total of 10 to 13 episodes in each cour.

The protagonist of the series is Naofumi Iwatani, an easygoing and adventurous youth. He arrives in a parallel world with three others, including Raphtalia and Filo, to be the Cardinal Heroes. Naofumi is caught up in a web of friendship and betrayal as he fights to protect his new world. In the finale, he is pitched against Glass in this supernatural world. There will be a new wave of enemies in this new season, and Naofumi and his company will once again fight against it.

With a new director in place, the original cast of the series remains unchanged. Hence, the voice cast from the previous season is making a return. Kaito Ishikawa will once again voice the unique protagonist of this series, i.e., Naofumi Iwatani. AsamiSeto is voicing Raphtalia,Yoshitaka Yamaya is the voice actor for Ren Amaki, and ItsukiKawasumi Rina Hidaka voices Filo. According to the official main cast updates for season two, Lecia will be voiced by Natsuko Hara, Melty by Maaya Uchida, and Mirelia by Kikuko Inoue.
