Konojo, Okarishimasu or Rent a Girlfriend is a shonen manga based on the popular manga of the same name by Reiji Miyajima. Straight after release, the series became one of the most popular in Netflix Japan. Directed by Kazuomi Koga, the anime series has managed to impress the fans of the manga.
The last episode of season 1 aired on September 2020 and the second season was immediately announced. In the remaking of manga to anime series, two things play a role- source material and audience rating.
Currently running on 190th chapters and 19th volume, there is enough source material for more seasons to follow and if the second season receives the same appreciation as season 1, fans can rest assured to catch new seasons.
What We Know So Far About Season 2:
Kazuomi Koga is returning. Kanna Hirayama directed and designed the trailer. According to sources, the original casts are coming back for the second season with a few new characters.
The official release month is July 2022 but the specific date is still not out. The show will most probably air on different dates for different countries like it did the previous season.
Season 1 Synopsis:
The series follows a 20 year old unloved, Kazuya. He immediately gets dumped as the series starts with Mami. Lonely and resentful, Kazuya decides to rent a girlfriend- apparently, that’s a real thing in Japan. You can even rent Moms, Dads, and Boyfriends-so weird.
A beautiful girl calls out his name as he waits for his rented girlfriend. It turns out, this beautiful masterpiece of a girl is not only is his rented girlfriend but also his schoolmate. Also, their grandparents are friends. They are immediately caught in a make-believe relationship. No one knows Chizuru works as a rented girlfriend. Kazuya’s grandmother thinks they are dating after he takes her to visit his grandmother.
